To the Point Research Update Evening

For the first time since the pandemic, we were able to host, donors, researchers, foundations, industry and EB families at our To the Point Research Update Evening at The View from the Shard on 28 March 2023.

The breakthroughs in EB research are so fantastic - really exciting few years ahead! Your hard work and passion really shine through.

To the Point guest

After an introduction by Cure EB founder Sharmila Collins, we were delighted to have Prof John McGrath, Dr Joanna Jacków, and Prof Alain Hovnanian speak at the event.

Prof McGrath presented an overview of the current treatment options and research landscape. Dr  Jacków outlined her cutting-edge base and prime editing project, funded by Cure EB. Prof Hovnanian outlined an exciting exon skipping approach to recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB), which has the potential to be a systemic treatment for RDEB patients with mutations on ‘skippable’ exons. The aim is to produce functional protein in intact and wounded skin, both internally and externally. Watch this space!

It was fantastic to hear of all the medical advances. Very exciting news. I have felt really emotional today just processing the reality of what that means for EB families, much to do with your relentless effort.
