Regular infusions of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) improved symptoms for some children with RDEB, according to results of the Mission EB clinical trial, which was part funded by Cure EB.

Published in eClinicalMedicine, the results show that 30 children enrolled in the trial reported a positive impact on daily life and wellbeing, with reduced pain and itch.

Following these positive results, INmuneBio have agreed to provide CORDStrom (the MSC infusion) with no charge for a 12-month open label study for all children who took part in the trial.

We hope these cells will become part of routine clinical care to alleviate the significant suffering of children with this condition.

This trial has been a really, really long journey to get us here. And it started many years ago with Cure EB when we did a study called EBSTEM…this was back in 2012, and we showed from that study that it seemed to help. And we lobbied for years and years to try and get funding to run a study and eventually after many years we set up this study called Mission EB….so this is the result of over 20 years, probably, of work and a whole army of people.
