Research Evening at the Royal Institution

Research Evening at the Royal Institution

We were delighted to welcome donors, researchers, clinicians and EB families to our Research Evening at the Royal Institution in London on Monday. It was wonderful to be surrounded by people who are all united in their desire to improve the lives of people living with EB.

Thank you to Prof John McGrath, Dr Ciro Chiappini and Dr Matthias Titeux for illuminating talks about the status of EB research, the possibility of nanoneedle bandages delivering treatment directly to wounds, and an exon skipping approach that could provide a whole body treatment to a subset of patients.

Research is the best hope for a cure and we were pleased to be able to share detail on pioneering research towards this goal.

Sharmila Collins, Cure EB Founder

This is an exciting time for EB research – if we can harness the scientific momentum, we will be able to deliver long lasting effective treatments and eventual cures for all types of EB. We will no longer need to say that Epidermolysis Bullosa is Hard to Say. Hell to Live With. EB will be a thing of the past.

Incredible evening. Here you have these amazing scientists who just dare to ask... but what if....by asking that most basic question, we end up editing a gene sequence and with a nano spike bandage.
