Prof Fernando Larcher is a Principal Investigator in the Epithelial Biomedicine Division at the Biomedical Innovation Department of the public research institute CIEMAT and Associate professor of Biochemistry at the Department of Bioengineering of University Carlos III of Madrid. His research focuses on various aspects of skin regenerative medicine, including cell and gene therapy for rare skin diseases.
Sharmila Collins is founder and trustee of Cure EB. Her oldest daughter, Sohana, has RDEB. When Sohana was born in 2002, there was little prospect of an effective treatment let alone cure. Sharmila and her husband set up Cure EB (formerly the Sohana Research Fund) in 2011 as charity dedicated to funding researcher into effective treatments and a cure for EB.
