Sharmila is an unpaid director of EBT. As a mother of a child with recessive dystrophic EB, she has a wealth of EB experience. As Founder and Trustee of Cure EB, she has a deep understanding of the research landscape given the charity's research focus. She brings this broad ranging experience from both patient and research perspective to her role at EBT, leading on the strategic research direction for the company.

Sharmila graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in veterinary medicine in 1994. She has utilised her scientific background to foster relationships with researchers and clinicians globally, to drive research in to promising treatments for EB.
